Blackback Butterflyfish — quick facts
Care & aquarium requirements
Butterflyfish are graceful, disc-shaped reef fish whose delicate beauty makes them perennial favourites. Hardier species such as the threadfin and raccoon adapt readily to aquarium life, while others are dietary specialists, so species choice matters. All reward careful acclimation.
Compatibility & reef behaviour
Reef-safety varies: some butterflyfish are safe with caution, while many will sample coral polyps, so they are often kept in fish-only or carefully selected systems. Most are peaceful and do well in calm communities.
Export packaging & shipping
Each specimen is conditioned and purged before packing, then bagged in clean, temperature-matched saltwater and charged with pure oxygen for the journey. Bags are insulated in polystyrene boxes and routed for the shortest reliable transit to your airport, helping us hold DOA below 2%. For more on how we keep losses low, see our guides on professional packing and mortality prevention.
