The distribution area of Naso
hexacanthus is large. They occur from the coast of Somalia down to
Madagascar, up in the Red Sea, past India, From Japan to northern
Australia and the Great Barrier Reef to Polynesia in the Pacific.
They usually live in large schools in clear lagoons and above the
reefs
