Longhorn Cowfish — quick facts
Care & aquarium requirements
Puffers and boxfish are intelligent, personable fish that develop a real rapport with their keepers, which makes them strong sellers despite their special requirements. They are hardy once settled and relish a meaty diet of shellfish and frozen foods that helps keep their beaks worn down.
Compatibility & reef behaviour
These fish are best kept in fish-only or carefully chosen systems: puffers may nip corals and invertebrates, and boxfish can, if severely stressed, release a toxin. Both are generally peaceful toward larger tankmates and should not be housed with fin-nippers.
Export packaging & shipping
Because of this species’ size, strength or special handling needs, it is bagged individually in heavy bags with extra oxygen and insulation. As with every shipment it is conditioned and purged beforehand, then routed for the shortest reliable transit to keep arrival stress to a minimum. For more on how we keep losses low, see our guides on professional packing and mortality prevention.
